ATLAR supports Miracle Chibuzor Marcel from Nigeria

ATLAR is proud to support Miracle Chibuzor Marcel from Nigeria, Founder
and Director of the Pan-African Citizen Science e-Lab (PACS e-Lab), in presenting their research at the American Association of Variable Star Observers (AAVSO) 113th Annual Meeting at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center (USSRC) in Huntsville, Alabama https://www.aavso.org/113, this 8-10th November.

PACS e-Lab is the largest Citizen Science online platform for astronomy, space science education and outreach in Africa. Miracle Chibuzor Marcel’s presentation will highlight some of the activities carried out at PACS e-Lab, including Planetary Defense and asteroid search, exoplanet and photometry research, astrophotography, double star studies, observations using robotic telescopes, and amateur radio contact with astronauts aboard the ISS. www.pacselab.space

The mission of the AAVSO is to enable anyone, anywhere, to participate in scientific discovery through variable star astronomy. AAVSO members have developed numerous instrumental techniques that are vital to astronomy, space science, and the development of space surveillance networks.

ATLAR Participates in Hack To Emerge #5

ATLAR Innovation had the pleasure of participating in the 5th edition of Hack To Emerge, themed “Hack for Good,” marking the company’s 4th involvement in the event. Once again, it was enriching to share this experience with excellent professionals, dedicated to creating technological solutions that positively impact society. ATLAR Launches LOPES Project to Develop Advanced Space Object Tracking System

Within the scope of the approved application for the notice MPr-2023-10 – SIID – Business R&D – Individual Operations – Low Density, ATLAR will begin, in early 2025, the development of the LOPES project (LEO OPtical TelEscope for Space), aimed at creating an advanced solution for monitoring and tracking space objects in low Earth orbits (LEO), based on optical sensors.

This R&D investment project will receive approximately €400,000 in funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). With this initiative, ATLAR reinforces its commitment to driving innovation in the space sector, contributing to the development of entirely novel technological solutions.

ATLAR Innovation joins the EMISSARY consortium coordinated by Leonardo

ATLAR Innovation is one of the nine startup finalists in the national stage of the Tech Innovator in Portugal competition, organized by KPMG! We are ready to present our project on September 5th at KPMG’s headquarters, where we will have the opportunity to share our vision and the impact of our work. One of the nine finalists will be among 23 representatives from other countries on the Web Summit stage.

Portuguese Researcher from ATLAR Studies Satellite Impacts

Bruno Coelho, a member of the ATLAR team, is part of the Sathub Committee of the Centre for the Protection of the Dark and Quiet Sky (IAU CPS) and is one of two Portuguese contributors to the study of the impacts of satellite constellations on the night sky.

ATLAR supports efforts in the sustainable management of space and the mitigation of the impact of megaconstellations of satellites on the quality of astronomical observations.

Observation of the Earth for Municipalities

Was present at the “Observation of the Earth for Municipalities” event by the Portuguese Space Agency, held in the Central Region in Pampilhosa da Serra.

The event, integrated into the celebrations of the 10th anniversary of the Intermunicipal Community of the Coimbra Region (CIM-RC), brought together authorities such as Ricardo Conde, President of the Portuguese Space Agency, and Luís Paulo Costa, Vice-President of the Intermunicipal Community of the Coimbra Region, to discuss the crucial role of satellite data in municipal decision-making and the potential of Earth observation to address local challenges.

Jorge Alves Custódio, Mayor of Pampilhosa da Serra, shared the history of the municipality’s relationship with space sciences, including the establishment of the PASO – Pampilhosa da Serra Space Observatory, a space observatory dedicated to exploring the space near Earth and observing the deep Universe, where ATLAR also carries out its work.

With lectures, practical presentations, and networking sessions, ATLAR’s participation in events like this strengthens our commitment to innovation and space exploration, while providing valuable collaboration opportunities for all participants.

In the coming months, sessions of the “Observation of the Earth for Municipalities” project will continue to other regions of Portugal, offering a unique platform to connect local institutions, promote knowledge, and leverage innovative solutions.

ATLAR’s participation, led by CEO Miguel Bergano, reinforces the company’s commitment to driving technological advancement and contributing to finding solutions in the field of Earth observation from space.
